Je suis une fane de Bernard Simonay, même si ce n'est pas la première trilogie que j'ai de lui. Je poste sur ce tome car, comme ce qu'il semble en ressortir de tes notes, c'est le meilleur des quatre livres. Le 1 m'avait laissée un peu dubitative. Celui-ci m'a carrément emportée dans une aventure onirique, magique. Et la bataille navale ! Un régal :)

Et, pareil que toi, le tome 4 est celui qui m'a le plus déçue. Mais en même temps, j'étais contente de certains détails (le pilote d'Astyan par exemple, je n'en dit pas plus pour ne spoiler les éventuels autres lecteurs ;) ).

Que j'explique quand même mon peu de goût pour ce livre... On m'en avait parlé, avant que je ne l'achète, avec des étoiles dans les yeux, comme d'un super livre digne de Tolkien. Quand je l'ai vu à 7 euros, j me suis jetée dessus, et baf tiens, un claque pour la peine.

En plus de n'avoir jamais vu autant de faute dans un livre, j'ai trouvé la trame totalement convenue et prévisible, les personnages sans épaisseur aucune, des grandes valeurs bien dégoulinantes, de la fantasy bien stéréotypée, somme toute, et qui plus est, qui, au contraire de ce que l'on a pu me dire, ne m'a rien fait ressentir d'épique. Bref, j'ai lu et je me suis dit : plus jamais Gemmell.

Peut-être était-ce parce que j'en attendais beaucoup, que la chute n'en a été que plus haute, ou parce que quelqu'un a osé me le comparer à Tolkien.
